My last blog post, written by guest blogger Tara Abu-Klam, was on tricks and tips to get picky eaters to eat their school lunches. She had a few things in there that I had never seen before, so I was eager to give some of them a try.
One in particular, a spaghetti and meatball necklace, was of particular interest. Not entirely sure how well it would work, I decided to go online to see if anyone had done it elsewhere and had some pictures posted. No luck there, but what I did find was something that looked a lot more fun and perfect for Halloween! Spaghetti- in -hotdogs!
You cook the spaghetti inside
the hotdogs, and it looks like you have a plate full of very long-legged spiders! Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s pretty cool! You can check out this site
for the original recipe.
Before anyone gets on my case, I’ll be the first to admit that this isn’t the healthiest food I’ve ever made. Being a dietitian doesn’t mean that my family and I don’t occasionally stray off Canada’s Food Guide. What it does mean is that I know, as anyone who strives to be healthy should understand, is that you don’t need to have a perfect diet to achieve this goal. But before I turn a fun post into a lecture, I’ll just redirect you to read my thoughts on this subject in my previous blog post on the 80-20 rule.

This would probably work well with meatballs, although you have to make sure they are at least partially cooked ahead of time.
Have a fun and happy Halloween!
